My name is Christopher. I am the founder of The Bodhi Tree and a qualified counsellor providing psychotherapeutic counselling services across East Kent.
I offer a warm, thoughtful space where I listen carefully, ask good questions, and help you make sense of what is really going on.

Men
Many men spend years carrying responsibilities without ever speaking about what is really going on.
Asking for help can feel unfamiliar, uncomfortable, or long overdue. You may be dealing with anxiety, burnout, fatherhood, anger, relationship difficulties, work pressure, or the sense that something in your life has become stuck.
Therapy offers a space to stop pushing everything down, make sense of what is happening, and begin to speak more honestly.

Women often come to therapy carrying a great deal: relationships, family roles, motherhood, loss, anxiety, identity, work, resentment, guilt, or the pressure to keep functioning when things feel difficult underneath.
Therapy can offer a space where you do not have to hold everything together. We can begin to understand what you are carrying, what it has cost you, and what may need to change.

Couples
Every relationship experiences difficult seasons.
Couples often come to therapy when the same conversations keep repeating, communication has broken down, trust has been damaged, or both people feel lonely inside the relationship.
Therapy offers an opportunity to understand each other differently and rebuild connection.

Children & Young People
Growing up can be complicated.
Children and teenagers often struggle to find the words for what they are experiencing.
The Bodhi Tree provides a calm, supportive space where young people can explore their emotions, build confidence and develop resilience.

Starting your counselling journey can be daunting. It might help to know the process and what you can expect.

Our first port of call will be the initial consultation.
The call will be a good opportunity for us to see what’s brought you here, answer any questions you may have and explore if we fit well together.
You might not know exactly what you want to say. You may even wonder whether therapy is the right step.
It all starts with a conversation.

Following the initial consultation, I will offer a complimentary introductory session.
This gives you the opportunity to experience how we work together before making any commitment to ongoing counselling.

If we decide to continue working together, sessions are typically carried out on a weekly basis at the day/time agreed.
Each session lasts fifty minutes.
Both long-term and short-term therapy options can be offered, depending on what you need.

Set in the peaceful Elham Valley, our dedicated counselling room offers a quiet, private space away from the pace of everyday life.
The therapy room is just a short drive from Folkestone and Canterbury. Free parking is available.
Many of our clients travel across East Kent, including Folkestone, Hythe, Canterbury, Ashford, Dover and the surrounding villages.
Online appointments are also offered for clients who prefer to work remotely.
